RuneScape has been around for a long time. Originally released back in 2001, it has seen plenty of new skills added across its lengthy history. In a new post on the official RuneScape website, developer Jagex Studios confirmed when RuneScape’s next skill will be coming. Come March 30, players will be able to dig up the secrets hidden within Archaeology.

Archaeology was first announced at RuneFest 2019 for a supposed January 2020 release. However, it was delayed to apply some much-needed polish. Given RuneScape’s lack of major content updates in recent years, it’s exciting to see a whole new skill coming as soon as next month.

With the Archaeology skill players will be available to both RuneScape members and free players as soon as it launches and will have the opportunity to excavate and restore artefacts using their gathering abilities.  Players will be able to discover a number of different ancient relics that will unlock powerful perks, including adrenaline boosts, infinite run energy and more.  As well as relics and artefacts, players will be able to discover ancient training methods for other skills. Free players don't have to worry either since Archaeology won't be an elite skill and can be levelled up to a level cap of 20 with around two hours of play. If you're a paying member you can happily grind all the way to 120 like the Dungeoneering, Invention and Slayer skill if you're devoted to hitting things. That's not all either since this is just part of an expansion which will also bring five new yet-to-be-revealed locations for you to explore as well through future updates coming later this year.

Since RuneScape will be receiving additional content updates that heavily focus on Archeology, players can expect various ways to level up the skill. In other words, content like mini-games, quests that rely on having a high level in Archeology, items, powerups, and more can be expected. Also, depending on what it takes to level the Archeology skill up, multiple guides and tutorials will be posted online in order to help players out.
