World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Patch 9.1: Chains of Domination will be rolling out to the Public Test Realms within two weeks, it's now official! Can we hope for a very quick release date, or should we wait for the release of BC Classic before? Hard to say !

Announced at this year's BlizzCon, Chains of Domination is described as a major update for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, itself the eighth major expansion to the original title. The PTR is where developers place updates for players to test before they are released to the public. Unfortunately, the timetable is usually unspecified and updates can spend weeks or even months in testing.

Also, unsurprisingly, the forum community has reacted divisively. Most talk about how player opinions after PTRs are not heard, but there is also a sizable group that is excited to at least get a look at the new patch.During the previous patches on BFA, it had taken a maximum of 2 and 3 months before seeing the arrival on the official waitresses, enough to hope for a deployment of patch 9.1 by June or July of this year. Hard to say, with the pandemic continuing to greatly affect development teams (and not just eh, beware), it's a safe bet that this first major patch of Shadowlands has already been postponed and will be again. probably in the next few weeks.

This news will probably surprise a great deal of World of Warcraft players as the pandemic delays made it seem like this update was going to take even longer. Getting it to the PTR by mid-April is exciting but should leave players wary of what state it might be in at this time despite the exciting content it promises. Ideally Chains of Domination doesn't need too much work and it can be fully released by the summer.
